Feeling Chipper
We loved the juxtaposition between this industrial modern apartment and its traditional seaside resort surroundings. The interiors are right on trend – exposed brick walls and distressed wood combine with matte black metal accents and slate grey finishes in the kitchenette. The comfy tufted sofa is a welcome sight after climbing the town’s famous 199 steps, and the king-size bed with only the best quality sheets guarantees sweet dreams every night. While you’re fully set up for cooking at home, you’re mere seconds from a mouth-watering selection of restaurants and pubs. Whitby has a sterling reputation for its fish and chips, so grab a portion to take away and dig in on the West Pier, a ten-minute walk from your home. Frolic on the beach and watch the ships slip over the horizon – go for a paddle if you’re feeling brave enough. Or find your sea legs and embark on a boat trip in search of whales, dolphins and seals – the cruise departs 3...

This beamed home in the heart of Whitby makes a lovely base for a family. The location is excellent, only a short walk from the ruins of Whitby Abbey and the famous 199 steps that lead to the lookout at the Church of Saint Mary. Pubs, fish and chip shops, local stores and restaurants are all within easy reach, as is Whitby Beach and the adventure-filled seafront, just a ten-minute stroll away. When you're not out taking advantage of this central seaside spot, there's more than enough space back at home to sprawl out and get cosy. Warm up by the fire in the sitting room, whip up a delicious dinner in the country-style kitchen or play a round of table football in the loft bedroom underneath the A-frame timber beams. The style is very rustic and pared-back – think unfinished wood, earth tones and exposed stone – but we like it all the same. Add in the easy access to all of Whitby's landmarks and it's a winner in our books. *This is a good...

Gaze out of the window of this home to spot the imposing ruins of Whitby Abbey rising up in the distance. Inside, the cast-iron fireplace and exposed wooden beams are a delightful reminder of the building’s history. Settle into the stylish sofa or take in the view while cooking in the sleek kitchen. You’ll be right in the centre of Whitby, meaning that the seaside town’s cafes and seafood restaurants are just a short stroll away. When you’re not walking along quaint, cobbled streets or watching the boats bobbing in the harbour, take a walk to the sandy stretch of Whitby Beach to swim in the sea and admire the colourful beach huts. * This home is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs, so it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility* You'll be sharing the main entrance with other people in the same property Carbon Monoxide DetectorCentral HeatingChild FriendlyCoffee MakerCooking EssentialsCot / CribDishwasherFireplaceFirs...

Open the window and breathe in the sea air – the beach is just a stone’s throw away from here. This seaside apartment is in a beautifully converted Victorian building, with views that stretch all the way down to Whitby Harbour. A well-equipped kitchen means you’ll easily be able to cook wholesome meals at home – if you’re not already full from trying the town’s fantastic fish and chips, that is. It’s the perfect retreat after a day of sightseeing, with huge soft beds and a soaking tub in the bathroom. We’d recommend lighting the candles on top of the fireplace for that finishing touch and peaceful atmosphere. Or, head out onto the balcony, and listen to the gulls and the waves as you plan your next move – with a range of antique shops, cute coffee shops and the world-famous Whitby Abbey to explore, you're spoilt for choice in this unique North Yorkshire town. * The apartment is on the fourth floor, meaning it would probably be unsuitab...
