Arasy is composed of two houses – the main house higher up the hillside and the guesthouse further down. The main house is on two levels. The lower level has an open plan kitchen with a round table with seating for eight and is fully equipped with hobs, oven, fridge/freezer, UV filtered drinking water, Vitamix blender and everything else you need to prepare a feast or just a snack. There is also the option to eat at the table on the veranda under the mangaba tree. Across the deck from the kitchen is the sitting room with sofa and chairs built from recycled boat wood and a projector and screen for watching films in the evening. We also have a selection of books in English, board games and toys. The lower level also has a bathroom with loo and sink and a laundry room. A wooden stairs takes you upstairs to the second level where the bedrooms are located. The master bedroom has a super king size double bed and vintage furniture. Adjacent is an en suite bathroom with shower, loo and sink. Next to this are two more bedrooms – one with two single beds and one with a queen size double bed. These rooms share a bathroom equipped with a shower, loo and sink. The main house can sleep six adults/children plus one baby. The guesthouse is situated further down the hill from the main house, tucked away under mango, banana and avocado trees with snatches of the ocean views through the leaves. It has one bedroom with queen size double bed and a child-size sofa bed, adjoined by an en suite bathroom with shower and loo. The kitchen dining room is fully equipped and is open on two sides allowing wonderful views of the forest and the sea beyond. The guesthouse can sleep two adults and one child. At Arasy we aim to make your stay as comfortable and unique as possible. With this in mind we put a range of services at your disposal. The rental includes the service of a full time housekeeper, caretaker and gardener. Breakfast can be arranged if required and will be laid out every morning, consisting of fresh fruit, homemade tropical juices, tapioca, eggs, corn pancakes, Acai, natural yoghurt, cheeses, and fresh bread. We can also make delicious wheat and dairy free breakfasts and most of our ingredients are organic and locally produced. Lunch and/or dinner can also be prepared and served with prior arrangement and will be cooked by the incredible Lucinede. Her moqueca is exquisite, a mouth watering combination of coconut milk, seafood, dende nuts, lime, cashew nuts, biribiri and coriander. Having lived here for three years we can confidently say it is the best in Bahia! Other treats include grilled lobster with butter and garlic, baked fish with white wine and olives, bahian clams and all served with feijao (bahian beans) and farofa (toasted mandioca flour). The caretaker of the house Marinaldo can organise guided tours, boat trips, surfing expeditions, capoeira classes, food deliveries and anything else you need while you are here. We can also arrange an in house massage or hot stone treatment or an incredible Watsu massage – an ‘in-sea’ massage in the corral pools! Rocky, a wonderful local character and caretaker of our horse Trovao can take you on guided trips with the horse and/or the mule with panniers. He also supplies the house with fresh fruit, vegetables and fish – as well as any basics you might need.
