Hidden behind a medieval garden wall but right next to a Venetian promenade, this home is a secret retreat in the heart of the city. We particularly love the traditional Italian charm of the living room, which invites in plenty of natural light – although the kitchen is on the smaller side, we suggest dining out. Found in Venice's hip Dorsoduro district, there are plenty of bars and restaurants within easy reach here. However, with that courtyard, you might want to spend more time at home – we think it's a perfect spot for afternoon drinks after a morning exploring the nearby museums, galleries and churches.
*This is a ground-floor apartment, so it's ideal for those with limited mobility. *Space is snug in the bedrooms, so we recommend packing light. The twin beds can be turned into a double on request. *The curtains here don't fully block out the sunlight. If you're hoping to enjoy a lie-in, you might want to pack an eye mask. One of the bedrooms also has windows looking onto the living area, but these can be curtained off. *Given the home's canal-side locale, noise is expected. *The kitchen is on the smaller side, but you'll find restaurants nearby. *The heating runs from October to April, while the air conditioning works from April to October.
