To Shinjuku,Shibuya,Ghibli,Mt.Takao

Konnichiwa. Welcome to tokyo. Sachiko was born and grew up in Higashimurayama-city,Tokyo. Higashimurayama-city is known as the stage of the ghibli movie"My Neighbor Totoro" and the home of the dierector,Hayao Miyazaki. It is the good harmony of the nature and the urban life to live.It also close to Koganei park where there is Edo Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum-Inspired to create "Spirited Away". The park is also known as one of the most beautiful cherry blossom view spots in Tokyo. We both went to a high school in Minnesota,USA as exchange students. We are very experienced travelers and homestay hosts from all over. There are lots of fun event opportunities and experiences to get together with guests! From our experiences,we believe our place is worth staying for guests like; -Who want to discover the east and west side of Tokyo and sightseeing spots outside. -Who is studying or working here. ÀIMPORTANT!!!À‘PlEASE make sure to let me know in advance if you have working holiday visa. We don't allow to resister our home adress on your resident card without our permission.. Those are also required to stay monthly. -Who is looking for long stay from one week, however, short stay guests are also welcome! -Who want to live outside city where is rare quiet area with a lot of nature in Tokyo and less "gaijin"(tourists). -Who want to communicate with hosts and local people. -Who love sharing cross-cultural experiences, reading, traveling, music, and outdoor activities because we love those. We can offer one day experience(chargeable) during Sunday to Wednesday depending on hosts schedule such as: -Outdoor activities -Surfing(Jul-Sep) in Chiba -Sightseeing at Okutama,Chichibu,Mt.Takao,Mt.Fuji,Kamakura,and so on. These plans are extra charge. PlS ask for more details. ÀIMPORTANT!À‘ We will NOT ACCEPT THE BOOKING WITHOUT enough information about you. We would appreciate your brief INTRODUCTION for the first message. We also require your EMAIl ADDRESS,ID VERIFICATION,and your PROFIlE PHOTO to be uploaded on Homestay.com page before confirming the booking. While our family members' are working,we are always happy to share fun time with you as much as we can. You can always rely on us and feel free to talk and ask about anything. We are really hoping you will have new discovery and inspiring experiences through your stay here. ==Why we started homestay host== First we want to share why we started this homestay. Sachiko,Kurara(Daughter of Sachiko),Jun(Son) had backgrounds of living or traveling around other counties, and talked people, learned culture, history, and there is always something made us happy and interesting, or something that leads us to. What we learned is that while traveling or deciding what to do, we always look for something we can trust especially people, or information. Whenever we come back to Japan, we always appreciate what we have here in our country, convenient transportation, food, nature, Onsen, Temples, advanced technologies, many fun places to hang out. However,a tough thing about Tokyo is getting busier and too complicated to know where to go in order to learn about true culture, history, language, or to meet certain people you want to talk. That is why we would like you to help give information depending on what each of you want and support you to have wonderful time here. We would like to request you to write about yourself as much as possible when you message us so that we can tell you read our description, and we will be able to know how passionate you are coming here and how we can help you. ====HOST MEMBERS=================================== ●Sachiko spends most of her time for tiny camping car traveling and meeting new people. Her speciality has long been export and import business in a Japanese company, holds MBA degree majored in Globalization of Business. We spent 1 month at Sachiko's house. The accommodation was very good, clean, pleasant, the neighborhood is quiet. The line to reach most lively neighborhoods is close, very practical It was perfect.

Sachiko-san is a wonderful person. She really helped us a lot to find our way around Tokyo and we especially enjoyed the conversations with her. We felt very comfortable with her from the first day, like at home and she grew on us from the first moment. We really would have loved to stay longer and even though we only stayed 1 week, it was not easy for us to say goodbye. We really hope to see her again one day. Take care and thank you for everything Sachiko-san! :) And for anyone out there looking for a homestay in Tokyo, this is the place to go ^^

I would really recommend staying with this warm and welcoming family! Higashimurayama is also a lovely place with plenty of beautiful locations to explore. Both Sachiko and Kurara did their best to make me feel welcome and I had a wonderful time staying with them during my winter holiday! I got to experience an authentic Japanese new year experience and I had lots of fun! I'm hoping I get the chance to stay with them again sometime in the future! ?????????????!

Getting the chance to stay with Sachiko and Kurara was an amazing opportunity! They were lovely, warm, and inviting hosts who were able to show us a fantastic time. We got to experience a wondrous and authentic Japanese New Year's when we stayed with them, which is something we will never forget. We were glad to start our trip by staying with them, because they helped us learn more about Japanese culture and language customs. If you are looking for a chance for a cultural exchange and are happy to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city, please consider staying with Sachiko and Kurara!

I arrived at Sachiko and Kurara's home in early September at quite short notice before I begin my work in Japan. Despite the stress of moving in and starting work, I truly felt at home in the leafy suburban backdrop of Higashimurayama. Sachiko treated truly me like family, and we often have many enjoyable conversations and funny moments (such as Shimura Ken's famous local comedy skits). I felt really as if she was my mum, and would often refer to her as 'Okaasan' to her and my friends in Japan... Even as I left, Sachiko texted me asking me if my moving in went well, as she was concerned that I had no bedding. I miss her and living at her place every day, it really felt like home. I wish I could stay longer... Her daughter kurara greeted me with such a warm smile, especially given I was a stranger to her. I felt really at ease after all this. This was my 2nd time doing homestay in Japan, the first time I was 20 years old. But I felt coming to this homestay was one of the best decisions I made before coming here. If you are thinking of visiting or staying in Tokyo, I recommend Sachiko's home. Kumegawa station is about 15 mins walk, about the same ish for Higashimurayama station. The walk is so serene and peaceful as you walk across the town, along the river bed, there's often children playing near the school, and lots of nooks and crannies to see and experience for newcommers in Japan. I really loved getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But for those wanting to visit the city centre, it is about 30-50 mins away depending on which station and if you get a rapid service train... I used to travel via higashimurayama->kokubunji->chuo line to tokyo (20 min to shinjuku from there). But of course you can also go for kumegawa->takadanobaba (about 20 mins) and grab the yamanote line (circlular line) which will take you around a large number of tourist spots. So don't worry about the distance, travelling on japan's railway system is a unique experience in itself.

Sachiko was a great host and gave me lots of recommendations on where to visit in Tokyo. Her meals were very delicious. If I return to Tokyo in the future, I would love to stay at her house again.
