This villa sits in idyllic countryside, yet is less than an hour’s drive from the centre of Rome, so you can get the best of both worlds. You’ll find this place perched between two golf courses, and a short walk from the banks of serene Lake Monterosi and the town of the same name. Spend a day exploring your surroundings or head to the Colosseum and ancient ruins of central Rome, a fifty-minute drive away.
The home itself is split across two separate villas, sharing a grand social space outdoors. Two swimming pools are connected by an infinity edge and beg for a dip on a hot day. Dine poolside under the shade of a parasol, or set up beneath the shaded veranda for a barbecue feast. Come sundown, the gazebo by the pool shades comfy sofas and chairs for an aperitivo. Across the private gardens, azaleas and roses bloom and the whole place is surrounded by olive groves.
Heading inside, honey-yellow walls are livened up with modern artworks and the old timber of the building is on display. Brick archways connect lounges with games rooms and there’s a full-size snooker table for evenings in. Bibliophiles will love the floor-to-ceiling bookcases, stuffed with paperbacks and gilded classics – the perfect accompaniment to a crackling fire in the main lounge.
