In the idyllic village of Arties, this picture-postcard stone house is the perfect place for your getaway to the Pyrenees. Set across five floors, each room is bursting with traditional charm. Timber panelled ceilings, a stonework fireplace, and wooden floors give the chalet ambiance, along with the balcony looking out onto the village and the mountains beyond. In the basement there’s parking that will fit a large car, as well as a washer-dryer.
The house is in the heart of the village, right opposite the magnificent 11th century Romanesque church, Santa Maria de Arties. There are several family run restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the house. In the summertime there’s plenty of fun to be had in the surrounding area. Follow one of the hiking trails taking you through breathtaking mountain scenery, either on foot, by mountain bike, or on horseback.
In the winter months, drive seven kilometres to the Baqueira/Beret ski resort. It’s widely acknowledged to be Spain’s best ski resort, with 167km of pistes. After hitting the slopes, head to one of the lively apres-ski spots in the area, or come home to Arties for tapas and wine, before taking a relaxing bubble bath and curling up by the fire.
