This apartment in our village house with land is perfect for a brief escape into the countryside, or longer rental for small families, digital nomads, keen permaculturists and gardeners and those looking to trial the lifestyle here in Central Portugal.

We are perfectly situated for a short break to the wine-making countryside, or a longer stay for house-hunters, those who work online and escapees from the rat race.

We have full fibre broadband included in your stay! Please note we usually switch it off overnight, but if this is a problem for you please let us know.

Newly-renovated, three-room guest suite on the first floor, comprising an entrance hall with sitting and kitchenette areas, one bedroom (with a double and a fold-out single bed) and a private shower room. This is a totally self-contained part of our traditional Portuguese village house – your hosts live on site.

Access is via a set of external stone steps to a small balcony which has views over the front gate (with its impressive, ancient wisteria), the Vale de Lamas and towards the village.

The entrance hall contains various wooden and soft seating, plus a small kitchenette comprising sink, units for storage, two-ring electric hob, kettle, NEW mini oven and mini fridge. Please note it is not a full kitchen and does not have an oven. A lovely woodburning stove makes it cosy all year. Pots and pans are provided.

The shower room has a large, walk-in shower cubicle, low level flush WC and hotel-style sink. Towels are provided.

The bedroom is fresh and simply furnished, with a double bed, a fold-out single bed, chest of drawers, side tables with chairs and hooks for hanging clothes. Bedding is provided.

The whole space is around 28m2, it is a mini apartment and directly adjoins our family home.

The house and 1 acre of mature land are nestled in a private setting away from the main village street. The village has a bakery, fruit, vegetable and flower seller and café, with an annual wine-making festival.

5 minutes by car are all the facilities of Miranda do Corvo (a typical small market town).

Within 20 minutes by car are many beautiful river beaches, mountains of Serra da Lousã, the City of Coimbra, Roman ruins of Conimbriga. It's even faster on the highway! We are 45 minutes from the coast at Figueira da Foz.

Locally within 1km walking distance, there is a shamanic yoga studio we can introduce you to.

We are 1 minute from the nearest junction of the main A13 highway, just 15 minutes from the city centre of Coimbra.

Guests have shared access to our family garden, which is wild, productive and in constant change.

Directly outside the guest rooms, it has quiet, shady nooks, leading to a roughly level lawn with trees and outbuildings. It is a work in progress and we are often doing jobs like pruning, strimming and small building works on storage and utility spaces in the garden.

There are various approximately terraced levels on a gentle South West slope, many mature trees including orange, fig, olive and native oaks and our growing vegetable garden. We are gradually making changes with a permaculture ethos and we are also working to develop more guest spaces. There is a shared (basic) camp kitchen with sink, fridge and wood fired bbq.

We are a small family of three and we speak English, a little French - our Portuguese is improving!

We relocated to Portugal from the UK, so we are sympathetic to those looking to find their own place. We believe in "learning by doing" and we have links to local home-educating and alternative lifestyle groups that we can share with you during your stay, if you wish.
