The Hayloft

Set in 3 acres of rural countryside on the outskirts of Larne overlooking the Inver river valley and Shane's Hill , these apartments offer excellent views with off road secure parking where you can enjoy the quietness of the countryside. This first floor apartment has the above uninterrupted views from your living room and kitchen, along with its own private decked balcony with patio furniture, separate kitchen, living room and two en suite bedrooms, with oil central heating, linen and towels and wi-fi inclusive in the tariff
My wife and I both retired reside on site and would love to share the tranquillity of the setting and to ensure a relaxing as we now only accept adults.
The site consists of a group of old buildings, the oldest building was a old homestead around the 1700's, the hayloft part of this building was used for a restaurant, hence our name The restaurant is now closed due to retirement though there is a pub restaurant a mile from us. There are three other houses which in the past would probably housed up to five families who would have worked for the wealthy landowner whose house (now mainly rubble) was situated off the incoming lane. The other outbuildings are, the carriage house (now the laundry room and small workshop), the old mill, and another of the buildings now converted to a one bedroom and a two bedroom apartment. Such a group of dwellings in Ireland would have been known as a clachan.

We stayed here with my elderly parents, sharing the 2 bedroom 1st floor apartment. It was very comfortable, well kitted out, glorious views. We even stayed in two evenings for our meal, chilling and admiring the view. Very convenient for Larne and the ferry, but a lovely quiet location. We all slept excellently. Met the owners who were very friendly and helpful but not at all obtrusive. Would love to come back for longer. We recommend a trip along the causeway coastal route, particularly Larne to the Giant's Causeway and back again.

The Hayloft self catering apartments were exactly what we needed during our Ireland adventure. The apartment was clean, easy to locate and peaceful. Malcolm and his wife are about the nicest people you could meet. We also loved that we could catch the train to Belfast in nearby Larne. Another huge benefit for us was the use of a washing machine. Great place to stay.

I was there in a business trip with other three colleagues. We stayed for 29 days and were very pleased with everything. The accommodation was found as described on web site, in a very quiet area, very good for relaxing, with very friendly owners. I will go back there with pleasure anytime. I can suggest this accommodation for everybody who likes rural quiet countryside.

We were made to feel very welcome and the accommodation is beautiful and extremely clean. The views are fantastic and the wildlife is amazing. We were able to use the washing machine and tumble drier and there is plenty of room to hang up your washing. The unit was provided with everything we could possibly want and was very comfortable. We would highly recommend this self catering rental accommodation.

About 4 miles outside Larne, this converted farm building is a warm, modern and comfortable 2 bed apartment. It has lovely views over the rolling countryside and is well located to explore the North coast, and getting to Belfast is easy by the scenic Train route alongside the Lough. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. What more could you want?

In every sense, the Hayloft is a warm and friendly place - the perfect spot for a break at any time of the year - and I'm speaking as a native of the local area, now exiled in Cheshire! Eileen and Malcolm are most courteous and attentive hosts, who provide a spacious, spotless and well-appointed complex of holiday apartments in a traditional rural setting. It's also very conveniently located, both in terms of all the cross-channel ferry ports and the Northern Ireland's two main airports: all are well under an hour's drive away. It's also possible make round trips to the full range of the province's tourist attractions - plus many in the Irish Republic - and return later in the evening. For example, we went down to Dublin to see an old university friend, and managed to take in quite a range of attractions there in a single day, based at the Hayloft. But given that my favourite part of the world just happens to be Co. Antrim, I can't help but recommend its coasts, hills, glens and villages to anyone and everyone. Certainly, there's the Giant's Causeway and the settings for the Game of Thrones, but give me the serene beauty of a sunset over Shane's Hill, or the sights and sounds of Glenoe waterfall any day - both of which are right there on the doorstep. Put simply, our stay at the Hayloft was absolute perfection, and we certainly look forward to returning!

Spent a lovely week here visiting family. Views over the fields were great while eating at the table. Very clean and with everything you need for a self catering cottage. Friendly owners. It was lovely to find out a bit of history about the buildings and area. We will be back next year.

We stayed here for 4 nights, wish it was longer. Great welcome on arrival, spotless accommodation and superb uninterrupted views. The owners, Malcolm and Eileen have thought of everything to make their guests stay as comfortable as possible. If you are planning a quiet relaxing break or want to explore Ireland this location is perfect. When we return to Ireland in the future we already have the perfect place to stay. Highly recommended, many thanks Brian.
