You drive up a narrow lane and come down into a picturesque farm with sheep bleating on the hillside and pheasants along the side of the road. As you pull into their parking area, you are greeted by two ponies and three beautiful Labrador retrievers. There are beautiful gardens and an amazing house. If a unicorn had walked around the corner, it would not have been a surprise. The house is stunning. The core farmhouse is 500 years old with exposed beam ceilings. Additions have been made on three sides over those 500 years, all of it tastefully restored, modernized and decorated by Jackie and Michael, our hosts. The house is perfect in every way. There are three enormous stone fireplaces, each now fitted with a wood stove. Guests have a sitting room for their own use, with one of those fireplaces, where a warm fire blazes upon your arrival, furnished with comfy couches, reading materials and games of all kinds. We had the best room in the house, with an enormous bed and modern bathroom, equipped with a shower that is like standing under a waterfall. Jackie and Michael are the best B&B hosts we have ever had. Breakfasts are a la carte - order whatever you want from Jackie's list and that's what you get. Local products, home made jams, full English breakfast if you like or anything less elaborate. Over the five days we were there, we had poached eggs and back bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages (all from farms down the road), fruit and yogurt. Jackie does not skimp on quantities! Also, the best pot of tea I've had in a long time. Tea is on offer at any time - sometimes with fresh scones. Jackie also serves as travel guide, providing suggestions on places to go, things to see, drives and walks, and places to eat. She makes reservations for dinner at pubs and restaurants anywhere in Exmoor. We relied on her completely and had not a single bad recommendation. The title of my review says it all. It is not only the finest B&B we have ever stayed at, but I cannot imagine anything better. I think we'll make this a mandatory stop on any future vacation to the UK.

My son and i were in Exmoor for an adventure race over the weekend mountain biking, running and kayaking. The weather looked to be a bit gloomy so we decided not to camp as originally planned. This was the best decision ever. Witheridge farm was a beautiful place to stay made even more inviting by the great hosts Jackie and Richard. With mucky moutain bikes and muddy clothes our hosts dealt with everything. The bikes could be stored safely and in the dry overnight and with a great drying room all our clothes were nice and warm ready for the next days adventure. Jackie even cleaned and dried our trainers for us! When we arrived each day we were greated with tea and homemade cakes and the early morning breakfast was fabulous. All with local produce. Jackie could even help us out with her extensive knowledge of the local area. I certainly look forward to returning in the summer with my other half for more exploration of this wonderful National Park.

Absolutely gorgeous rooms! A really tranquil setting and very welcoming hosts. The separate guest sitting room is extremely comfortable and the bedrooms 5*. Billy and Mickey the ponies graze in the orchard - so charming, and the garden is looking stunning covered in bluebells and Forget Me Nots.
