House i is located very close to central downtown Vancouver and therefore ideally situated for a visit to the city. It is 15 minutes walk from West Georgia St., a few blocks from Davie Street and from there a short walk to the ferry to Granville Island. Nelson Park, where we enjoyed breakfast at the Farmers' Market, is just around the corner. We stayed three nights in one of the rooms in a shared house. We had access to the kitchen and lounge. The room itself was not luxurious but was clean and tidy and provided perfectly acceptable accommodation for a short stay. Kai provided helpful instructions for accessing our room at the start of our stay and for our departure. The neighbourhood seemed pretty quiet during our stay (early September). Booking through TripAdvisor presumably makes the whole thing secure, though we didn't need to test that presumption. If you are looking for good value accommodation in central Vancouver you would struggle to improve on House i, (as long as you aren't expecting pampered luxury).

Kai was great to deal with and always got back to emails quickly. The house itself is in a great location downtown. It's a short walk to the pubs/clubs and main shopping area. Both Skytrains are also just a short walk away. If your looking for a social place this isn't it, people staying there kept to themselves. It is a great place if you are out all day. I also liked being able to cook meals, do washing and having my own bathroom.

The location was fantastic; right in between Robson and Davie and walkable to the water and ferry access. Rooms and kitchen were a bit run down in comparison to the pictures but they were clean and it was awesome to have a bathroom in the suite. Property managers were very accommodating and quick to reply. I had a great stay.

We spent 5 nights whilst touring Vancouver. The room and bathroom were very clean, with suitable linen and towels and a comfortable bed. We were in room 2 and the wardrobe was small, without hangers but 5 were provided on request. I would describe the room as basic but adequate for our needs. It was small with 1 window. We requested an extra pillow each and a blanket and these were provided quickly. The kitchen does not live up to the pictures or the description of a 'gourmet kitchen'. It must have been 'gourmet' when it was started but I guess things have gone missing or got broken over time. It was adequate for food preparation but the oven, fridge and mini oven could have been cleaner. Feedback on this was received positively and I am hopeful that Kai will attend to this. They provided maps and tourist information which was helpful Overall, not as great as the pictures suggest but ok value for the price and very accessible. Hint: If you arrive at the Yaletown/Roundhouse metro, you can catch the No 6 bus up the hill on Davie Street to Thurlow Street and the house is just a block up Thurlow Street (to your right from Davie with the Metro behind you). Your metro ticket will give you access to the bus if you have bought the Compass Card. You can get a bus map at the Tourist Information in Canada Place - very useful.

I spent twelve nights at this property and can recommend it to anyone seeking accommodation in the heart of Vancouver. The room with bathroom and balcony is cosy and comfortable. The shared kitchen is clean and you find everything you need. Kai was always reachable by messaging. Most sights were walking distance. Perhaps, however, you need to be aware that the street is rather busy and noisy at nights Thanks - Judith

The location was really good with everything at our doorstep. Kai was really helpful and even helped us store our suitcases after checkout. He always answered our phone calls immediately which was a huge relief on arrival. The accommodation was clean and was great having an en-suite with a great shower. The only gripe I have is that there were no drinking glasses or wine glasses. Not sure if the other guests had taken possession of these.

House I has very good location at downtown Vancouver there are few blocks from the principal stores and public transportation. Our room 6 is big Enough and has properly stuffs to keep personal belongings and clothes. Kitchen has all you need , stove, freezer, and all you need for cooking. There are some things to improve ie the frequency for cleaning common areas like kitchen garbage can was full during several days whilst nobody take care of that. Bed sheets were not ironed so it looks like no cleaned.

For the price that was paid, our room and the shared kitchen were not disappointing. The slightly gloomy house is located near a busy shopping street but was mostly quiet and we slept well. Although the kitchen was shared and, when we met the other guests, they were nice but it was a bit soul-less. Our only material complaint was that the crockery was a bit tired with few matching plates, etc an only one glass mug, there were no tumblers or wine glasses. To be fair had we met the host - we arrived late - we might have got a better impression. That said the nearby Davie St area offered good food shopping, a wine shop, and an eclectic selection of numerous good but inexpensive cafes and restaurants. All in all it suited our budget.

First the positives: Very good location, once you get used to the transport system (buses and transit). The house is an old style timber house in a whole block of old houses which have been tastefully restored to keep the feel of how Vancouver used to be. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. The washer and dryer in the kitchen proved very useful. Now the not-so-positives: The photographs do not accurately represent the state of the interior. The kitchen and its equipment are worn and, to be frank, could do with (preferably) a full refit or (at least) a deep clean. However, the biggest problems were in the bathroom (we were room 8). The shower curtain had signs of mould (pinkish) so we would not use it. The shower itself was problematic - the faucet for the shower was broken so it was hard to adjust. Once the temperature was adjusted it was ok with very powerful water pressure, but there was no bracket on the wall so it was actually hard to use without spraying water everywhere. There was soap/shampoo/conditioner in a dispenser over the bath - but nothing by the sink so we had to turn to the bath every time we wanted to wash our hands, There was a tv in the bedroom (and one in the kitchen), but no signal. It transpired that there was no tv signal throughout the property, just a notification on screen that the cable provider was no longer providing to that property, and that (the owner) would need to change to a different system. A comfortable bed in a dry room with very basic washing facilities. Given the cost of the room and the fact that there seemed to be quite good occupancy, I would suggest that the owners should do some upgrading or at least basic maintenance. I would recommend to a friend but would make them aware of the defects beforehand.
