Santiago de Calatrava is nestled in the Andalusian countryside, far from crowded tourist spots. Known for its friendly locals and idyllic surroundings, it makes for a quiet, off-the-beaten-track destination. You'll find this home just a stone's throw from the laid-back town centre, within walking distance of a few local cafes and eateries. The pocket-sized garden could do with some TLC, but the private pool is a nice touch, especially when the Spanish sun is at its fullest. It's not the roomiest place inside or out – we think ten guests will be a squeeze as there are only two bathrooms – and it is dated in parts. That said, it'll suit a family wanting to escape the hustle and bustle. *The decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts. This charming Alcalá la Real home places central Andalusia at your fingertips. The walled pool area becomes a personal oasis here, complete with a shaded alfresco dining area that's a fine spot for lunch. The kitchen has everyone you need too, which is a bonus when the nearest restaurant is several miles away. We found the interior a little dated, and the living room area isn't large enough to accommodate everyone, but we suspect you'll be spending more time outside than in here anyway. With just one shower for four bedrooms, guests may have to coordinate, but the additional outdoor WC provides some flexibility. *The traditional decor here might not be to everyone's taste.
