The understatement on display in this historic house allows some of the warm, textural elements of the design – like the exposed beam ceiling, tiled floors and concrete steps – to sing. Set within a stunning fifteenth-century building, the home is spread over three floors, accessible via a beautiful spiral staircase that eventually emerges in between the three bedrooms up on the second floor. The interior is a largely pared-back affair, with a definite nod to Scandinavian simplicity, but without veering into the impersonal.
