Set on the outskirts of the pretty village of Llanfrynach, on the grounds of a grade II*-listed Georgian mansion, this quaint cottage offers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The home has been lovingly converted from a workers' house into a contemporary home by your hosts, with meticulous attention paid to every detail. Step inside and head through to the open-plan living room, complete with an atmospheric wood burner and a dining table with plenty of space. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need to prepare picnic lunches to keep you fuelled up on hikes, plus more elaborate dinners at the end of a long day out in nature. There are plenty of trails leading straight from the front door up onto the high peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Alternatively, enjoy more leisurely strolls along the canal. Despite the easy access to the pristine landscapes, you'll find plenty of pubs and restaurants, as well as ...

We think this family home is a real beaut. The cosy lounge is the perfect place to unwind with a movie night – and with access to Netflix and Prime, you'll have plenty of choices – while upstairs, a sumptuous clawfoot tub beckons after a long day on your feet. Keen chefs can cook up a storm in the well-appointed kitchen – it has everything you need, whether you fancy a Sunday roast or a fresh-baked treat. During the summer months, head out into the private garden and enjoy your dinner alfresco. Whether you're sipping wine on the deck while watching kids bounce on the trampoline or bubbling under the stars in the hot tub, it's our favourite spot to relax in the summer sunshine. Although you're about a half-hour walk (or five-minute drive) from the train station, shops, pubs and eateries in Newport's city centre, Ridgeway's peaceful atmosphere and fantastic green spaces feel miles away. Take an invigorating stroll across the Ridgeway, adm...
