Come and experience the energy and excitement that comes from being immersed in Permaculture at Rancho Relaxo, a working Permaculture demonstration farm! Our five acres of paradise is just minutes outside of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, which displays some of the best mountain views and pristine vistas that Alberta has to offer. This farm will display many different types of systems that can be used to produce & store food, produce & store energy, or turn waste products into something useful. Our family has 4 kids, which live here at different times. Sage (10yrs), and Renn (8yrs), live here full time. Harrison (17yrs) and Elliott (20yrs) will visit from time to time on weekends. The kids are very sociable, and will be willing to help, play, sing, wrestle, paint, draw, or drum on anything you choose! Our home is an old 5 bedroom farmhouse that has been converted to a high-efficiency building. Taimi Soil Projects is our company, which specializes in helping central Alberta families transition to a self-sufficient lifestyle. We install garden beds, food forests, and water harvest systems, as well as consult on property design. Our house and public toilets feature a simple, 5 gallon pail, compost or DRY toilet system. The property is designed to maximize production, but also to help form connections between people and their environment. Connections with other people, animals, and nature allow us to see things in a different perspective. We try to obtain the highest quality food possible. We are hoping for local, organic, GMO-free, chemical free, fertilizer-free, but in small-town Alberta, these options are not always available. Our drinking water is from a well, is chlorine-free, and fluoride-free. Breakfast (8am) usually consists of porridge or cereal with milk. We are not vegetarian all the time, but some meals are.
