The living room has a Queen size sofa sleeper and love seat, perfect for cozying up after a long day of playing in the sun, snow or water. There's also a reclining leather chair, along with a rocking chair for grandma to knit your next Christmas sweater :-). Numerous windows provide spectacular views of the surrounding trees, distant forests and plenty of flying shenanigans provided by our resident hummingbirds, Harley and Harriett. Additional entertainment is provided by our 40' flat screen tv with roku streaming, dvd player and boombox with a plethora of cd's for your old school listening pleasure. Last but not least, there's a wonderful detached wood burning fireplace, to add ambiance and warmth to your winter evenings.
Adjacent to the large living room, there's an equally large and well stocked kitchen. The interior dining table easily seats 6, while the outside picnic table easily seats 8. The very spacious deck has additional lounge seating, patio heaters for those chilly nights, along with a gas grill for cooking lots of steaks, chicken, fish, burgers, hot dogs and so much more. Just below the deck is the horseshoe pit and enough firewood to impress Paul Bunyan.

For those that prefer to do laundry, there's a mud room/laundry room with full size washer/dryer, fishing poles and floaties for the kids to use. Don't forget to bring your own detergent.
The TWISTED OAK CHALET is VERY cozy and the deck is a wonderful place to have breakfast, happy hour, lunch, happy hour, dinner or one more happy hour each day. After all, when you're on vacation, you can never have too many happy hours!
It's the perfect setting for entertaining or just sitting around with friends/family. Relax on the deck with a drink and your loved ones, while hanging out with Arnie, our resident tree hugger bear, while watching the pine trees grow, pine cones fall, resident hummingbirds zip around, Squitchy the squirrel climbing the trees, Charlie the chipmunk, Billy the bat, the sunset, the clouds or the shooting stars. Either way, you're sure to have a fun and relaxing experience, whether reading a book, writing a book, scrapbooking, taking a nap or spotting one of numerous resident critters that call this place home.
There is central heating for those chilly nights, along with wifi and high speed internet. The town of Arnold is less than 5 miles away and offers a supermarket, post office, barber shop, library, hardware store, 3 gas stations, several restaurants, banks and more shopping.
Nearby activities include: Alpine Lake (one of my favorite spots) for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and picnics! Tree huggers will LOVE Calaveras Big Trees State Park for hiking and more picnics. The area hosts numerous events each year, such as the Bear Valley music festival, local wineries offer summer concert series, the quaint historic town of Murphys, boasting small shops, yummy restaurants and lots of local wine tasting.
Easy day trips include visits to Yosemite, Markleeville or Lake Tahoe. If you're a photographer or motorcycle enthusiast, then this will be PARADISE for you. Take a scenic drive over Ebbetts, Monitor and Sonora Pass, for truly spectacular twisty roads and stunning vistas!!! And don't forget highway 49 between Oakhurst and Angels Camp for additional motorcycle riding fun. History buffs will appreciate the nearby Sierra Nevada Logging Museum and serious hikers will love the easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail. In winter, you can go skiing/snowboarding/snowmobiling at nearby Bear Valley.

Wonderful place to visit! My family and I were really fortunate to find this very beautiful and cozy cabin (The Twisted Oak Chalet) surrounded by nature, situated on the outskirts of the Stanislaus National Forest, in Arnold, California. Our first impression of the area – we were struck by the majestic beauty and fragrance of the ancient trees. Very fresh, and clean air, there is that wonderful scent of pines that permeates the area. We felt very comfortable from the first day, and throughout our stay (3) days. The chalet has a friendly layout, very clean bedrooms, bathrooms, and linen. The kitchen is very spacious, well stocked, and there are many windows to enjoy the view. Everything worked out beautifully for us. We were out most of the day on short trips around the area, and chose to spend the evenings sitting by the fire, talking, watching movies. I will always remember watching breathtaking sunsets, from one of the windows in the living room. During the summer months I bet sitting out on the deck and doing a barbecue with friends should be fun. The chalet is conveniently located some short miles from the center of town, where they have a very nice supermarket. There is a self-service car wash, several restaurants (American, Italian, Chinese), a couple of good hamburger joints, one of them brews their own, in our opinion, very good beer. There is a fruit stand (their own apple orchards) near town. We found the locals to be very courteous and friendly. We also enjoyed a visit to the town of Murphys, not far from Arnold, worth visiting. We will definitely book this chalet again. Thank you.

We enjoyed a relaxing and cozy stay at the Twisted Oak Chalet. The cabin has 5 beds. I slept in the master bedroom one night and the lower bedroom the next night, both beds were very inviting and comfy! The kitchen has a nice open area with plenty of space to spread out and cook, bake or entertain. I loved hanging out on the deck, catching a few rays and watching the hummingbirds feed. I especially enjoyed laying on the bench, looking up at the beautiful forest trees, clouds and blue sky. Oh and make sure you try the bench at night as well, its the best star gazing ever (I promise you will see a shooting star)!!! We always look forward to visiting Arnold, can't wait to stay here again!!

avatar Great cabin, close to skiing

This cabin is so cozy with lots of space! It has three big bedrooms, a huge kitchen with everything you could need, a fire place, Netflix, two bathrooms, and a huge deck. We went up to Bear Valley to ski and play in the snow. We had so much fun hanging out in the cabin the rest of the time. Great place!

My family and I rented the Twisted Oak for a quick winter wonderland weekend and we loved it! Beautiful cabin with wonderful views as well as all the comforts of home. I would highly recommend this cabin.

avatar Nice cabin

We liked the location being only 5-10 minutes to town and 30-40 minutes to Bear Valley for fun snowboarding. We were a little disappointed there wasn't snow at the cabin to play in, but we were able to drive 10 minutes up Hwy 4 and found a free place to enjoy snow play. Be aware the driveway is very steep and a little tight turning at the top. The inside was layed out nice with 3 levels. There were lot's of books and games to enjoy. it was maintained well, so there were no real issues other than a leaky shower head that was easy to tighten up with a pair of pliers. The furniture was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had fun playing the Foosball as well. If you are into watching television, not the best service. It streams a service called Hulu which we didn't care for. There are c.d.'s to listen to music which we found enjoyable. It would have been nice to have some kindling to start fires with as all the twigs around the outside were soaking wet and we couldn't find a hatchet to chop up the dry logs with. hopefully you have a truck to hall your garbage out as there is no garbage service. Anthony was helpful answering questions leading up to our stay. Overall, we enjoyed the cabin and would stay there again.
