    Keeping Time

With unparalleled views of Piazza Venezia and Capitoline Hill, this penthouse has four terraces and decadent decor. We think it's great for romantic getaways, and if you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a free cot. At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the studio – this has its own en-suite like the other bedrooms, giving everyone the same level of privacy. The large terrace has plenty of space to enjoy the surrounding views and dine alfresco. You might hear some outside noise due to the central location, but this home makes exploring a breeze. You'll find several of Rome's famous landmarks easily reachable on foot, including the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. *Not all bathrooms are photographed, but we expect consistency in style and quality throughout this home.*Parking in Rome can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible.*Your host can provide a ...

Revel in the exclusive setting, right next to the historic Antico Caffe Greco – perfect for a cappuccino to kick-start your day.The building dates back to the 1800s, but it's been brought well and truly up to date. The Cool of Rome

A mere five minutes' walk from Campidoglio and Piazza Venezia, the prime position of this Rome home is incredible, but perhaps what's more impressive is that despite the central location, guests here get the run of an expansive palazzo that wouldn't look out of place in the Italian countryside.Spread across three levels, you're actually looking at two independent apartments stacked on top of the other, although it's perfectly easy to share these spaces if you're coming in a large group. The first is on the ground floor, where you'll find high ceilings, a large dining room and a pair of wooden doors that lead out to an equally spacious terrace complete with plenty of shady seating. The next two levels above this comprise the second apartment. The same contemporary approach to design has been embraced, but there are a couple of standout features up here — namely the Jacuzzi and sauna in the master bedroom that you have to hope the occupant...

    Opera Glass

Everything about this palatial apartment clicks seamlessly into place. It’s luxurious, opulent even (how else do you describe the marble columns?), but retains a certain grace – a lightness that stops it from feeling over the top. That’s quite an achievement in a place with ceiling frescoes, parquet flooring, and marble arches. While the living space has a real air of elegance, the bedrooms are more modern and stylish, with whitewashed walls, gold accented furnishings and tasteful artwork (plus their own individual coffee machines). Inhabiting the space between a hotel and an apartment, you'll find plenty of other thoughtful amenities during your stay – from a private chef, housekeeping, and 24/7 concierge. Take your breakfast outside, prepared and served by the staff on your rooftop terrace, offering skyline views over the Eternal City. Beckoning you to explore, walk sixteen minutes and find yourself at one of the seven wonders of the ...

This unique home is ideal for large groups. It’s a whole building divided into four separate apartments, so up to eighteen guests can stay together while also having their own space – though four guests will be sleeping on sofa beds. The steep stone stairs aren’t suitable for those with reduced mobility – or heavy suitcases – but those stairs mean that the views from the outside spaces are pretty special. Desiderata

It almost seems redundant to try to talk about this magical spot in the heart of Rome – we’ll never be able to do it justice like the photos can. In stunning condition, the apartment hasn't aged at all and invites guests into a time capsule filled with spectacular artworks, antique furniture and original features that are usually only reserved these days for royal palaces and museums alike. Secret doorways and passageways give way to a one-of-a-kind experience and continuous surprises no matter how long you stay. You needn't bother visiting the crowded galleries and museums that the city is so often renowned for, as you'll have your very own gallery at home. Almost every wall is adorned with oil paintings or sumptuous wallpaper, inviting guests to experience the kind of opulence that few ever get to know. And with the vast array of world cuisine and Italian gastronomy at your fingertips, be sure to discover some of Rome's top restaurant...

    All Roads Lead to Rome

This is a stunning home in Rome. It sits just a short stroll from the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute walk from the Pantheon – in terms of location, you can’t do better. The star of the show is undoubtedly the wonderful private terrace, which looks out over Rome’s rooftops and is the perfect spot for alfresco dining, sunbathing, and watching the sun set with a cocktail. One guest will be sleeping on a sofa bed in a separate studio, which is ideal for a guest seeking a touch more privacy. Mirror Sand

Fendi are one of the great design families in the world, so you can imagine how excited we were to test Mirror Sand. It’s inside the new Alda Fendi Foundation, designed by the superstar architect Jean Nouvel, and right next to the Roman Forums. It works similarly to a hotel, the apartment is geared towards the independence that you get with a proper living room and kitchen. We also liked the ridiculously deep bathtub – it’s a wonderful place to relax after a day in the bustle of Rome. You’ll never want to get out. *If you want a style that's classically Roman, the industrial touches might be a bit much*As this is a serviced apartment, if you're after the feeling of a lived-in home, you won't find it here*Your host owns multiple apartments within this building, so the exact view, furnishings and layout might differ from the photos, but the size and standard will be the same*Only the most basic ingredients are provided Air ConditioningB...

    Mirror Sky

The contrast between the old structure, with its plaster and ceiling beams, and the Koons-esque furniture in Mirror Sky is striking, even more so in the flesh than on a screen. It’s a bold move, but no less than you’d expect from a flat in the Alda Fendi Foundation. Rather than a traditionally autonomous apartment, here you get the benefits you’d normally associate with a five-star hotel, without losing any independence. There’s a 24/7 reception, a roof terrace, daily cleaning, even the option to choose the pillow best suited to you from a ‘menu’. *As this is a serviced apartment, if you're after the feeling of a lived-in home, you won't find it here*Your host owns multiple apartments within this building, so the exact view, furnishings and layout might differ from the photos, but the size and standard will be the same*Be prepared to stock the kitchen yourself, there aren't many ingredients provided*The design is very stylish, but not ...

    Divino Amore

Set right in the heart of Rome’s historic centre and housed in an ancient palazzo of high and mighty proportions, this place feels more like an Italian residence than a city bolthole – and we couldn’t love it more.Spread out over three floors and exquisitely designed throughout, the designers have taken the best of the period architecture (would you look at those gabled ceilings in the main bedroom suite complete with a private terrace) while bringing the rest of the home elegantly into the 21st Century. Sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on the rooftop terrace – the home’s hidden gem. Cradled by the crumbling ochre facades, it couldn’t feel more Italian. And if you’re impressed with the view now, wait until dusk when the cupolas of the city’s churches light up. It’s the perfect spot for aperitifs – and the well-stocked honesty bar will come in handy for those.Keep on top of fitness with the indoor spin bike, then reward yourself ...

    L'Anfiteatro

The views from this home are spectacular – it feels like you could reach out and touch centuries-old stones with your hands. Perhaps the most iconic sight in a city of iconic sights, the Colosseum is visible from nearly every room in the home. It goes without saying then, that you’ll be in a prime location – a quick four-minute walk to the Roman Forum, six minutes to the Arch of Constantine, seventeen minutes to the Trevi Fountain and twenty-one minutes to the Pantheon. You’ll have all the bars, restaurants and shopping of Monti nearby to keep you entertained, while line B of the underground metro is located just below to building, connecting you all around the city. Beyond the views, you’ll find a large and comfortable home perfectly designed for accommodating groups and families. The living room is large and bright, with fun pop art prints and vibrant plants. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and of course, great views. Plus, there’s...

    Starry Eyes

Just a few steps away from the hive of activity that is the Campo de’ Fiori square and its market lies Starry Eyes, a spread-out apartment with ample space for large groups of friends and friends. Brightly lit, the tall windows overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza San Pantaleo let in plenty of light throughout the day and fill the space with fresh air. Step out onto the corner balcony as you sip your morning coffee and watch the world go by. We particularly love the antique dining table – be sure to share an Italian feast of dreams when it comes to mealtimes. Despite the home's central location, you'll find peace and quiet here, making it the perfect escape to return to after a day of pizza-fuelled sightseeing. Having said that, you won't have to venture far to discover the treasures of Rome – as you'll be stationed just 500 metres away from Piazza Navona and 600 metres away from the Pantheon. *You may experience a bit of no...

Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight (and ten, at a stretch) in the Jewish Quarter isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Finding somewhere that can comfortably sleep eight and has a view as good as Teatro’s is even harder. It looks down onto the Largo di Torre Argentina, which holds the ruins of four temples and Pompey’s Theatre. It’s a fantastic spot, and Teatro makes the most of it, with a simple design intended to not interfere. *Even though this in a restricted-traffic zone, it's very busy outside and you can expect some noise*The fake plants in the living room feel a bit unnecessary*While as many as ten people can stay here, there are only two bathrooms (as well as a separate toilet)*As is quite common in Italian homes, the washing machine is on a balcony outside*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room Air ConditioningBalconyBlack-Out BlindsBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCarbon Monoxide DetectorCentr...

    Soft Shading

Before we even arrived at Soft Shading, we were struck by the location. It’s so close to the Trevi fountain that the only danger is you’ll end up stuck among all the tourists. It’s very new inside, and the modern fittings contrast nicely with some of the original structural features, like the ceilings. The only drawback is the slightly inadequate living room, upstairs, and without space for a full house, but as it’s right in the middle of the city, you won’t be spending much time in. *There's no real living room, certainly not one that can hold nine people*The dining table is only big enough for four people *The shower in the third bedroom is only 190cm high – tall guests might have to duck a little*One guest will have to sleep on a sofa bed*There are a total of 17 steps from the street level to the actual entrance of the property Air ConditioningBlack-Out BlindsBreakfast IncludedBuzzer / Wireless IntercomCentral HeatingChild Friendly...

Pastel-hued and characterful in style, the open-plan living space is a treat for a large group. The bedrooms will suit a close group, with a double and a single sharing one bedroom and a semi-open plan fifth bedroom – that said, with Rome’s sights on your doorstep, you’ll be springing out of bed in the morning to experience the sights. The Pantheon, Saint Peter and the Imperial Forum, and Museo di Roma are within walking distance, as are the city’s best boutiques and restaurants. *One of the double bedrooms is linked by a glass door to the twin bedroom, and they have their own en-suite bathroom – perfect for families.*Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.*Your host can provide a cot and a hi...

    Via Babuino Romance

A sumptuous stay awaits at this penthouse apartment moments from the Spanish Steps. Shops, restaurants, and many of Rome's most famous landmarks are on your doorstep, but the home itself is even better than the location. You'll make a beeline for the panoramic roof terrace, where you can enjoy an Aperol Spritz as the sun sets. We love the mix of contemporary comforts and traditional features inside, though it's worth noting that there's a fee to accommodate the fifth guest. But with a Peloton bike for morning workouts, a study for remote working, and a chic living area ideal for socialising, this is the definition of a Roman holiday. *If you're travelling with little ones, your host may be able to arrange a cot and high chair on request.*The Peloton bike is only available to those who already have one – let your host know in advance if you'd like to use it.*The second bedroom is a little snug. The bed is pushed against the wall, making...

    Lion's Pride

When we saw this grand home in the heart of Rome, we were in total awe. The classic Italianate interiors are utter joy, with exquisite antique furniture and oil paintings from the host's family homes in Puglia and Sardinia. Large windows with original shutters look out over pretty Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, with its luxury boutiques. Entertain in style at the large dining table under the light of the crystal chandelier. Or get some rest in the bedroom painted in a rich Pompeian red – if you’re not feeling sleepy, there’s a library here with a variety of books on art and literature to leaf through. Another bedroom has French doors onto a small balcony, filled with plants, with a view onto the internal courtyard – ideal for breakfast in bed before exploring this charismatic city. This location is fantastic – it’s just a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a ten-minute saunter to the stunning Trevi Fountain, while a ran...

The understatement on display in this historic house allows some of the warm, textural elements of the design – like the exposed beam ceiling, tiled floors and concrete steps – to sing. Set within a stunning fifteenth-century building, the home is spread over three floors, accessible via a beautiful spiral staircase that eventually emerges in between the three bedrooms up on the second floor. The interior is a largely pared-back affair, with a definite nod to Scandinavian simplicity, but without veering into the impersonal. While the Tiber isn’t actually visible from the front door, but it’s only one street over, and the Castel Sant’Angelo is just a few minutes' walk on the other bank. Elsewhere, you're around five minutes from the ever-popular Piazza Navona and ten to the lively morning market in Campo de' Fiori. *Child-friendly amenities such as a cot, highchair, stairgate and dinnerware are available upon request*The master bedroom ...
